Natural Remedies for Thwarting Warts
Common warts generally occur on areas of the body that are continually exposed to rubbing, abrasion or some sort of trauma such as on the hands, arms, face and feet, as well as in the larynx. most range in size from the head of a pin to a small pea. they can be either raised or flat, moist or dry, flesh colored or darker than the normal skin-tone. The most important thing, however, is that they are caused by a virus and can be highly contagious, spreading by touch. those with warts are also advised not to pick at them, let alone bite or try to trim them off.
While over-the-counter medications such as Preparation W are effective in getting rid of common warts, there are a number of natural remedies for warts as well. in colonial times a common cure was to rub the affected area with (cut) raw white potato and then throw the potato between your legs and over your left shoulder. Applying a few drops of castor oil to the wart was also said to work well.
Native American natural remedies for warts include using the sap of a milkweed. The wart was cut with a knife and the white liquid was dripped fresh from a stalk of a cut weed right onto it, then allowed to dry. once it became rubbery it was then peeled off, taking the wart with it. No scars left. those who are too squeamish to cut themselves, or who don’t have access to milkweed may also find success putting crushed garlic on the wart instead, and then covering it with a bandage for approximately 24 hours. A blister will form and the offending skin growth will fall off on its own accord within a week or so.
Those with or prone to get warts should also increase the amount of (sulfur-containing) amino acids such as citrus fruits, eggs and vegetables such as onions, garlic and asparagus in their diets. Desiccated liver pills, as well as Vitamins A, B complex, and C are also recommended, along with 50-80 mgs of zinc each day. in addition, Vitamin E taken orally as well as cut open and applied daily either with or without enzyme creams should also be used as part of any natural remedies for warts.
While the natural remedies for warts above are not recommended for genital warts caused by the human papilloma virus, Vitamin C is also considered to be an important part in maintaining immunity to them as well as the common type.
